Editorial Notes

This May/June issue of Edmonton Woman Magazine is our kickoff to the splendour of summer in the city.

Warmer weather and plenty of sunshine seems to bring a renewed energy to our lives as we begin to undertake those long-awaited projects and plan various summer activities for the whole family to enjoy.

This issue offers numerous suggestions and tips for summer pastimes from golfing to gardening. In addition, it showcases plenty of choices in summer camps, entertainment, local outdoor festivities and meaningful activities of the season.

On the cover we feature Jujie Luan, Edmonton’s 1984 Olympic Gold Medalist, who not only represented Canada in fencing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but who has achieved World Master ranking in the art.

In her article, Jeannie Chua uncovers the secret to Luan’s success and details how the fearless fencer persevered in fighting battles despite injury and other challenges.

Learn about H2O, the most abundant molecule on earth. Anne Stropel explains guidelines pertaining to bottled water in Canada.

Lastly, Edmonton Woman Magazine would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our writers and advertisers for their contributions, making our summer activities theme for this issue possible.

Now go and seize the day!
